MA Magazine Journalism students at Nottingham Trent University are bidding to win the annual Dragons’ Den contest with four magazine ideas they hope will blow the judging panel away.
Each group has devised a pitch, concept, business plan and cover for their mag, aiming to come up with a fresh magazine idea which could ultimately be presented to major publishers.
This year’s contenders are:
Dad Mag – a bi-monthly parenting magazine targeting fathers with children 0-3.
LGBTQ+ – a monthly lifestyle and entertainment magazine aimed at the LGBTQ+ community
Shaker – a monthly magazine devoted to cocktails for women 20-30 interested in fashion, food, beauty and lifestyle
Watch Now – a monthly magazine covering TV shows on streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Video and Now TV for readers 18-45.
All four will be pitched to judges from the media industry this Thursday (February 16) and the winning one will be produced by all of the students on the MA programme.
