It’s that time of year again – winter, cold winter. The clocks have turned back, it’s dark when you’ve finished work and your hair and skin have never felt so dry.

Adding to your winter misery is the fact that you’ve had to pack away all your cute summer outfits and wave goodbye to your glow-y tan and replace them with overly expensive itchy wool and a red runny nose.

There’s nothing we can do about that runny nose, but unpack that summer wardrobe because we’re going to show you how to keep wearing summers hottest pieces in the winter… without freezing to death.

Throw tights on with some funky socks, trainers and a fun knit jumper

A summer go-to, slip dresses look gorgeous on anyone and everyone! Metallic, patterned, black, sequinned – you name it, they all look amazing.

A more casual, plain black slip dress can be layered over a graphic or plain tee and paired with a choker for that edgy look.

For a warmer, yet still cool look, wear over a striped turtleneck, tights, with your favourite converse and a faded oversized denim jacket.

For the ultimate winter going out look, pair your slip dress with a choker, patterned tights and a classic leather jacket with a metallic or pastel clutch.

Dungaree dresses are a cute and girly look for summer when paired with a classic stripy crop top and your best trainers. But don’t part with them just yet “Layering is key, it’s all about layering,” says Phoebe Edwards, a production and finishing assistant at popular knitwear company Stoll. “Cute dungadress? Throw tights on with some funky socks, trainers and a fun knit jumper underneath. Job’s a good’un.”

Denim or corduroy dungaree (or pinafore) dresses are fabulous no matter what the weather, and they’re an easy piece to style and match. Slay for days by adding a chunky cardigan in this years hottest colour, millenial pink. Culottes are arguably the best fashion piece to come back around since chokers. An ultimate wardrobe staple, they’re PERFECT for the office and so insanely comfortable that you feel like you’re wearing pyjamas. Heaven.

Personal stylist and image consultant Lisa Talbot’s favourite way to wear culottes for the office is to dress them up with knee high-boots or opaque tights and ankle boots. For a more casual weekend look, she suggests finding the chunkiest plat-formed trainers (preferably metallic, VERY on trend) and a comfy sweat top for that laid back vibe.

Culottes look amazing with knitted jumpers, with slogan tees and with chiffon blouses for that bold workwear outfit that you’ve been looking for. Throw on some chunky heeled Chelsea boots, and a longline collared coat for warmth and you’re away.

Tulle, a netted ballerina-esque material, was massive over the SS17 catwalk (who DOESN’T want to look like a punky fairy?!). From dresses and skirts, to jeans with tulle hems – every outfit needed a touch of tulle for that feminine glam rock look.

To warm it up, wear your tulle overlay dress over jeans and a tee, pair with trainers or heeled ankle boots and a thick puffer jacket for a style that’s both edgy and glamourous.

Tulle will be all over the Christmas party dress wish list this year. Get ahead and wear your tulle overlay dress over a bralet and high waisted black jeans, and throw on a leather jacket for added warmth. Enhance your pout and your outfit with a dark punky lipstick, rock smoky eye shadow and you’re bound to be the most glam person in the room.

Most people think playsuits are only suitable for scorching holidays or for clubbing, well we’re here to tell you that is not the case. Charlotte Townsend, a senior sales advisor at New Look, wears her strappy playsuits over long sleeved t-shirts, with tights and a classic collared coat topped off with her favourite big blanket scarf for all of the warmth on those chilly nights. Her favourite way to accessorise her look is with tasselled earrings, chunky rings and understated, “fresh faced” makeup.

A floral playsuit is not only adorable in the summer but pair it with some tights and classic ankle boots and you are the definition of AUTUMN VIBES. To take this look to the next level, style with a colourful suedette biker jacket and a big blanket scarf for the ultimate cool girl chic.
