Kitty Café in Nottingham City Centre is holding a special Christmas event in December for families to interact with cats.
The event will have festive food and drink specials, board games and competitions whilst guests can play with cats to Christmas music.
James Metcalfe, 25, the General Manager of the café originally from Yorkshire, said: “The cats love it, they’re up past their bedtime and go a little bit crazy – but it’s the interaction that they really love.”
A usual visit to the cat café offers customers the opportunity to eat and drink whilst cats roam freely for adults and children to interact with. The Christmas party will be no different.
“We want kids to come in here to teach them compassion to cats and to animals in general. It also gives us a perfect opportunity to see whether cats would be able to be rehomed to a family with kids.”
Giving Cats a Home for Christmas
Rescuing and rehoming cats is one of the café’s aims. They have 3 branches across the UK (Nottingham, Leeds and Birmingham) and provide a platform for adoption on their website for rescue centres. They also rehome cats from the cafés themselves.
Kitty Café holds regular special events, previously hosting Kitty Yoga classes, and all the money raised goes towards the well-being of the cats.
“It brings in extra revenue. Every single penny that comes through our doors goes towards the cats”
The welfare of the cats is their top priority. Nearly 30 cats of different breeds and ages living in the building full time, including Popcorn the Persian and Heathcliffe the main coon cross.
Christmas at the Kitty Café will be taking place on Friday, December 20th at 6pm. Tickets can be bought by visiting the café on Friar Lane or calling 0115 924 2214.
